Five Boroughs Partnership NHS Trust has become the first mental health trust to go-live with Lorenzo Regional Care Release 1.

The trust has gone live with the system in its Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), as part of the National Programme for IT in the NHS.

According to the trust, Halton and Wigan were the first two boroughs to go-live, followed by St Helen’s, Warrington and Knowsley. The system is now being used by around 150 clinical and administration staff.

Marilyn Nichols, head of services at the trust, said: “Clinicians have engaged exceptionally well in developing the business processes and clinical content for Release 1.

“As part of the preparation towards go-live, clinicians have been very positive about the system and how it will begin to support clinical practice.”

The go-live is the first phase of a programme designed to replace the trust’s patient administration and clinical systems with Lorenzo Regional Care.

Core Lorenzo and clinical documents will be used in conjunction with and interfaced to the trust’s iPM PAS, which is also provided by iSoft, until it is replaced at the end of the second phase of the programme.

Tarnia Woods, a CAMHS nurse, said: “The system is easy to use and the layout is user-friendly. I particularly like the risk indicator form which is thorough, yet easy to use.”

Last week, E-Health Insider exclusively revealed that Hereford Hospitals NHS Trust had also quietly gone-live with Lorenzo Release 1.

Other early adopter sites already using Lorenzo strategic software on a limited scale include University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust, Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and NHS South Birmingham.

Another organisation, Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust, is working towards becoming the first mental health trust to deploy Lorenzo Release 1.9 in November 2009.

Really ?

09 Oct 09 11:07

Taking a tiny part of the system is now classed as a go live with the whole release ?

I cant wait for the November deadline news releases "Lorenzo 1.9 successfully implimented" ... which would mean one person using one part in a tiny ward somewhere and adding one patiend before the system goes down.

But HEY as long as the money changes hands its all good right ?

Missing the point?

Comment (1) above seems to miss the point a little. This isn't a triumphalist statement about Lorenzo - just a simple statement of fact about an NHS service going live with a new system.

Like Hereford PCT last month, 5 Boroughs has without fanfare quietly gone live with Release One as the first phase of a systems replacement programme.

Irrespective of individual views on NPfIT - surely any successful system deployment within the NHS (or any other government service) ought to be worth a mention?

Missing the point

No you are completely off target.

Any NHS system going live should not be worth a mention, it should be the norm and expected.

That is the problem peole grasping at NPfIT straws.

More Spin

I agree with 1 and 3. This is more timely and desparate spin from the centre assisted by yet another deluded Trust flattered by the spotlight and their fleeting moment of infamy. There are 2 reasons why I imagine this Trust cooperates in this charade. Firstly because somehow they have some misguided view that this brings them some kudos in the NHS Informatics world. I'm afraid it doesn't. I does however seriously question those in charge's strategic direction and abilities given the tried and tested system which are already out there and doing the job (one has just been awarded the Olympics and one is a large French city!). Being kind however I presume that 'Success' in their case is merely a relative term, i.e relative to the existing iSoft product they already have installed.

Indeed.  Worth a mention because - yet again - it's too little too late.

Nov 09???

Okay I have to clear a few things up here... The idea that Pennine Care Trust will go live in Nov 09 with R1.9 is just not true, according to our SHA. The earliest plan for the "go-live" is Jul 2010. Secondly, 1.9 does not contain all of the functionality that is required for a full Mental Health system. Even when 1.9 is live we will still be someway short of a full care records system. I really wish that iSoft and CSC would stop trying to convince us they have a workable solution when they dont, they have a very very small part of a system... as my teacher used to say to me when I handed in my homework.... this is just not good enough....

Behind the scenes

13 Nov 09 10:12

Can I just say well done to all of those involved in getting this phase up and running. Like most things it is the people behind the scenes that make these things happen. I hope that the Project Manager has had a huge pat on the back for this and is given the recognition that they deserve.
