Mayday uses single sign on from Enline

Staff at the Mayday Healthcare NHS Trust will be able to sign on to systems just the once to use any network applications, after the trust deployed a new OneSign application from Enline and Imprivata.

Portsmouth uses Sentillion for single sign-on

Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust has implemented a single sign-on and context management system from Sentillion, identity and access management specialists. The solution is being deployed to enable clinicians to access vital patient information as quickly, easily and securely as possible in an ongoing efficiency drive.

Logica CMG appoints BT director as chief executive

Logica CMG has named Andy Green, the BT Group director, who was responsible for landing BT Global Services the NPfIT London cluster and Spine project contracts, as the company's new chief executive. He replaces Martin Read, earning a salary increase from £520,000 to £700,000 a year. Green is due to take up his post on 1 January.

MedeFinance to expand into Europe

MedeFinance (Mede), business performance software providers, has announced that it is expanding its European operations with the formation of Mede International, Ltd. The company will be located in London, UK, and the appointment of Jon Horrocks as General Manager to lead its European operation.

HL7 appoints Accenture chief technology officer to be new CTO

Health Level Seven (HL7) has appointed Accenture US’s John Quinn, to be its new chief technology officer. Quinn was previously Accenture US Provider Practice chief technology officer and leaves with immediate effect. A final agreement will be signed with Accenture within the next few weeks.

Waiting rooms to show images of missing children

Pictures of vulnerable missing children are to be displayed in the waiting rooms of hospitals and GP surgeries, the government has announced. Images of some of the 100,000 British children who go missing each year will be screened at UK health centres from Missing Children TV provided by Electronic Health Media.

Dementia Voice awarded grant for PC training for dementia sufferers

Dementia Voice, part of the Housing 21 group and Innovations in Dementia, has been awarded a grant of £27,300 from the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts to run a new PC training programme- 'Innovations in Dementia' This project will include an evaluation of the benefits of computer-based activities for people with dementia in day-care settings.

Imprivata launches new security application for NHS systems

NHS Trusts using McKesson or Meditech systems will be offered additional security functionality using a new application called ProveID - a system that cleverly allows developers to insert Imprivata strong authentication into applications increasing policy and regulatory compliance.

NHS Informatics website to move to new location

From Friday 12 October, the Health Informatics Community will not be publishing any new content. Discussion forums will also be frozen during a migration process to a new eSpace section of Connecting for Health’s website eSpace is a new extension to the NHS Connecting for Health website which will offer online collaboration functionality to those with an interest in IT-enabled change and peer collaboration in healthcare

3G Doctor - a service to enable 3G video calling with Doctors is re-launching its service. This includes a range of new free services including the ability to create and manage your personal health record with all the privacy and convenience of your 3G Video Mobile and the ability to securely access this information at anytime from anywhere you have a mobile or internet connectivity.

Kardex launches new medical records filing system

Kardex, manufacturer of document management solutions, has launched the Kardex DataStack - an automated document storage and retrieval system that provides access to a wide range of media, including medical records in files, folders, CDs and DVDs.

First DataBank announces pharmacy IT awards

First DataBank Europe (FDBE) is pleased to announce the 2008 FDBE GHP/UKCPA Information Technology Award, in association with The Guild of Healthcare Pharmacists (GHP) and the UK Clinical Pharmacy Association (UKCPA), The deadline for entries is Monday 31 December 2007 and the award will be presented in the spring of 2008. Networks First hosts NHS IT seminar at Wembley Stadium

Networks First, a provider of support services for network infrastructures, will be hosting a joint seminar with CA on Remote Network Management. Titled 'Maintaining Access to NHS Critical Applications - eradicating downtime in the NHS’ the seminar will be held at Wembley Stadium on 2 November 2007. It is being held in collaboration with IT healthcare solutions partner, Bates IT. The event is aimed at senior IT staff decision makers whose organisations depend on a reliable infrastructure with minimal un-scheduled downtime.
