Nuance Healthcare has released a case study from Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, which is using speech recognition to compliment its RIS and PACS. Thanks to speech recognition, Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust increased the reporting rate from 50% to 98% and reduced average turnaround time by approximately 60%. The trust is following in the footsteps of HCA International in London, where report creation times are now at two minutes and 40 seconds thanks to frontend speech recognition.
Nuance technologies are brought to hospitals and trusts by major Health-IT firms, seamlessly embedded into their RIS, PACS, HIS, EMR or dictation workflow solutions. The list of Nuance’s integration partners and the full version of the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and HCA International case studies are available at www.nuance.co.uk/healthcare.

Data silos across PACS continue to be a problem for hospitals in terms of accessing and sharing medical images, migrating from or upgrading existing PACS, and providing reliable business continuity and disaster recovery.
BH PACStore manages the long-term storage and retrieval of PACS imaging data, creating a vendor-neutral, robust, flexible and cost effective enterprise DICOM storage infrastructure – helping reduce costs, improving DR, and assisting hospitals to meet compliancy obligations.
BridgeHead Software supports more than 1,000 hospitals worldwide, providing more choice, flexibility and control over the way data is accessed, protected and managed. The net effect – better utilisation of hardware and the efficient distribution, availability and use of vital healthcare data.
