Connected Healthcare
"There is an increasingly common theme in healthcare across the world - the need to connect applications, people, and information to deliver patient care beyond traditional organisational boundaries," says InterSystems director of healthcare Phil Birchall.
"InterSystems is confronting the challenge of delivering clinically-safe solutions that can support the provision of care beyond acute care settings, into community, social care and beyond."
The States of Jersey Health and Social Services is the latest to tackle the connected healthcare challenge. It recently selected InterSystems TrakCare to replace its legacy hospital system. However, TrakCare will also form the heart of an island-wide integrated care record that will support acute, community, mental health and social care services.
TrakCare's versatility in diverse community settings is being demonstrated in Australia, where the state of Victoria has put it at the centre of its multi-million dollar, 'whole health' ICT programme.
Meanwhile, the Swedish Healthcare Advisory Organisation is addressing connected healthcare from a national perspective through the use of InterSystems HealthShare to create a patient record summary. The pilot phase has gone live in record time in the project's first healthcare region - Örebro County Council and the Municipality of Örebro.
