EHI Live 2010: special report
More than 1,100 exhibition visitors and conference delegates made their way to eHealth Insider Live 2010 at the NEC in Birmingham, to see more than 100 exhibitors and a packed line-up of speakers, with keynotes from health minister Simon Burns and NHS director general of informatics Christine Connelly.
The big themes of the event were the coalition government’s plans for the NHS, for its IT and for its information, with Burns outlining the vision in the consultation on a new information strategy for the NHS and Connelly taking questions on how it will be realised.
Visitors to EHI Live 2010 wanted to know where the standards, skills and money to implement the new strategy would come from. But the busy exhibition hall suggested they were also keen to see the technology that will be needed to make it a reality. And then, of course, there were the conference extras.
The strange coloured drinks. The zebra stress toys. The champagne receptions – not least for the launch of EHI Intelligence, the new service from EHI that will give subscribers unrivalled access to information about the IT systems in use across the NHS. The EHI editorial team reports...
