E-Health Insider Awards 2009 in association with BT

E-Health Insider’s third annual awards ceremony took place last Tuesday. Some 350 guests gathered at The Hilton on Park Lane for the E-Health Insider Awards 2009 in association with BT, to see broadcaster Emily Maitlis present a record eleven awards.

NHS Waltham Forest’s implementation of the RiO community and mental health system emerged as the overall winner, after winning the healthcare IM&T team of the year category. And at the end of the evening, Andy Inniss, a control training supervisor in South Western Ambulance NHS Trust’s control room in Exeter, was named Healthcare ICT Champion of the Year; a special category decided by readers.

Sir Jonathan Michael, managing director of BT Health, congratulated all the winners, saying the evening was “a celebration of excellence and exemplary working practices in healthcare ICT” that showed “innovation is alive and well in the NHS.”

Meet the winners: There will be an opportunity to find out more about the winning entries and to meet some of the winners themselves at E-Health Insider Live ’09 at The ICC in Birmingham on 9-10 November. For more information, visit the E-Health Insider Live ’09 website.

Quick wins: instant reaction

The winners of the E-Health Insider Awards 2009 were “over the moon”, “gobsmacked” and “delighted” – but keen to stress that most of their projects were team efforts that had taken years to come to fruition. Lyn Whitfield reports.
